Sculptor, Automata Creator

Thomas Kuntz (born January 13, 1965) is an American multi-media artist notable for his sculpture and contemporary automata. He was among the first American Garage Kit makers and the first to produce faithful sculptures of the German Silent classics and many others.

Thomas’s figures and automata have found their way into the collections of some of the entertainment industry’s elite including Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes, Guillermo Del Toro, Michael Jackson, Frank Darabont and Peter Jackson.

Guillermo Del Toro commissioned a custom automaton and digging machine model from Kuntz for his film “Crimson Peak” released in 2015….However the first film to show Kuntz’s automata was (2016 WonderFest guest) William Malone’s “Parasomnia” in 2008.

In recent years Thomas’s automata have been shown at the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, The Oceanside Museum of Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art as part of Guillermo Del Toro’s “At Home With Monsters” exhibit.
